Trend #9 revolves around robots. 🤖
A revolution in the event industry
Imagine attending a soccer match and being greeted by a robot that scans your ticket. In the stadium, another robot mows the grass accurately, while its colleague keeps the surroundings clean by collecting garbage and cups. Another robot helps pour beer at the beer stand. This is not a distant vision of the future, but a reality that is becoming increasingly present in the event industry.
In Frankfurt’s Waldstadion, for example, sectors are already being cleaned by robots on a trial basis. At SK Rapid Vienna’s Allianz Stadium, a robot enables seriously ill children to take part in green and white life from home or hospital and soak up the stadium atmosphere.
In the NFL, robots are mixed in with the guests to collect event data. This makes it possible to identify the mood, guest behavior or problem areas more quickly, collect data and draw conclusions for further planning.
According to a press release from the International Federation of Robotics (IFR), sales of service robots have increased by 48% worldwide. In 2022 alone, around 4.9 million household robots were sold, with floor cleaning robots leading the way with around 2.8 million units. Garden robots, especially lawn mowing robots, reached 1.1 million units. Educational and social interaction robots have also achieved a significant market share with 157,000 units sold.
In Germany, almost 50% of employees see the use of robots as an important way of overcoming the shortage of skilled workers. 68% are in favor of using robots to support older workers, while 84% believe that robots can help to take over dangerous or unhealthy work.
What does this mean for your event?
Ticketing and greeting:
Robots can be used as efficient check-in aids to facilitate ticketing and greet guests.
Clean environment:
Similar to stadiums, cleaning robots can ensure that venues remain clean and tidy.
Catering support:
Robots assisting with food and drink serving can bridge staff shortages and create a unique experience for guests.
Interactive experiences:
Social interaction robots can be used as interactive elements at events to enrich the visitor experience.
Conclusion:
Robots in the event industry are no longer just a futuristic idea, but a viable and increasingly popular option. They offer innovative solutions to challenges such as staff shortages and increase the efficiency of event organization. The future of the event industry could very soon lie in the integration of robot technology.
