The top event trends at IMEX 2025

IMEX used to be just a trade fair. Today? A look into the future of the event industry.

The fact is: events are back. Real, emotional, courageous – and more human than ever before.

What happens in Vegas doesn’t stay in Vegas! Our Mario was at IMEX 2025 in Las Vegas and has summarized the most important industry trends for you.

Events are back – genuine, emotional, courageous and more human than ever

From AI tools and new design principles to completely new expectations of event participants.

And the best thing is that many of these trends confirm that we at KESCH have long been on the right track.

Our Head of Brand Experience, Mario Flieger, experienced first-hand how quickly our industry is evolving: from AI tools to new design principles and completely different expectations from participants. Many impulses confirm this: We at KESCH are already on the right track.

More Information

1. face-to-face is the new trust

In times of dwindling trust in media and purely digital formats, the value of real encounters is growing. Events are becoming safe spaces where people can meet unfiltered.
Quick Win: Start with a no-phone window (e.g. the first 20 minutes) and with Welcome Zones that promote real exchange.

2. personalization is king

Away from target groups, towards personalities. From personalized badges and lanyards to selectable program paths – participants can expect experiences that feel just like them.
Quick Win: Offer three parallel curated tracks (Explore / Deep Dive / Community) plus badge statements that create conversation starters.

3. from event manager to experience designer

“Managing processes” is no longer enough. We are looking for experience architects who curate quality time and maximize meaning per minute.
Quick win: Define three outcome goals (knowledge, relationship, decision) and map the journey to them – everything else is dropped.

4. imperfection is the new premium

Wabi-sabi, natural materials, campfire talks instead of keynotes: Authenticity beats high gloss. The most honest stage is often the most beautiful.
Quick Win: Set up a Campfire Stage (360° seating circle, low-tech) and replace a keynote with a moderated talk.

5. AI × HI – technology with a heart

AI is an amplifier, not a substitute. Avatars, bots and assistance systems help people to have more time for each other.
Quick Win: Use AI for live Q&A clustering and auto-recaps; hosts remain human – HI enthusiastic.

6. ROI & responsibility

ROI is thought of holistically: Impact, sustainability, mental health. Success is measured by impact – not just numbers.
Quick Win: Supplement KPIs with Well-Being indicators (energy level, focus moments) and a sustainability score per supplier.

7. The New Event Playground

Events become playgrounds for encounters: micro-challenges, spontaneous games, interactive zones. Breaks are conscious reset moments for the brain.
Quick Win: Incorporate game loops (e.g. three mini-challenges with instant feedback) and a reset zone for the mind and senses.

8 The return of strategy

Less actionism, more strategy. Away from the “list executor” to a strategic partner who takes responsibility.
Quick win: Formulate a North Star story and a stop-doing list. Each session must visibly contribute to the strategy – otherwise out.

Implementation check (to tick off)

☐ Goal & North Star story ready
☐ Personalized tracks / badges prepared
Campfire Stage + conversation formats planned
☐ AI as enabler, hosts remain human
Playground elements+ reset zones defined
☐ ROI & responsibility KPIs expanded
☐ Stop-doing list adopted

Conclusion

IMEX 2025 was a reality check: AI, design and technology are developing rapidly – but in the end, it’s people, emotions and genuine connections that count. This is precisely where our strengths as KESCH lie.

We don’t just design events – we design connections.
